Influences on other people:
Raphael had an enormous influence on other artists of his time and after his death. For example ¨[Raphael] was Titian’s senior by only a few years, but he exerted considerable influence on his younger colleague¨. If you were to look at some of Titian's artwork you would be able to see some of Raphael's influence. Specifically, he structured the faces similarly to those in Raphael's paintings; they both painted faces in a very life like way.
Influences on art
Raphael influenced the way people painted. He was the first that we know of to use oil paint on wood instead of pigment paint on canvas or a wall. This was beneficial to the future of art because many pigment paints were toxic and could cause illness to the artist after a long exposure. Also the oil paint itself ¨creates luminous hard wearing colors¨ which would be a step up from pigment paint. Thanks to Raphael, we now use oil paint as a more functional alternative to pigment paint.
